We were very honoured to invite our ECG2024 Ambassador Dir. Derek Tsang as the guest speaker for today’s 1st industry forum. Moderated by the Creative Director of Eye Catcher Eric Tsang, the forum provided a retrospective of Derek’s journey in the local film industry and his recent foray into the international film scene. Together with the audience, they discussed the future development of Hong Kong film.
During the forum, Derek shared his experience of co-directing “3 Body Problem” series for the international streaming platform Netflix. As the director of the first two episodes, he mentioned that it took some time for him to adapt to a production style that was vastly different from the local film industry. “The showrunner of the TV series has the ultimate decision-making power, and it is often a collaboration among multiple directors, which is a completely new production experience for me.”
Despite the challenges, through this precious opportunity for international collaboration, Derek was able to explore the possibility of bringing local creations to the global stage and hopes to produce Hong Kong dramas that can reach a wider audience in the future. Therefore, he also encourages Hong Kong filmmakers to try different forms of production and broaden their perspectives. While conveying local stories, they can also think about how to connect their films with audiences all around the world.

榮幸邀請到ECG2024大使曾國祥導演擔任第一場產業論壇的嘉賓講者，並由奪目影像創意總監曾慶宏導演擔任主持，與觀眾一同回顧曾國祥在香港電影圈不同崗位打滾多年、再踏足國際影壇的心路歷程，探討香港電影的未來發展。
在論壇上，Derek分享了他近年轉戰國際串流平台Netflix執導《三體》的經驗心得。作為這部電視劇首兩集的導演，他表示當初自己花了一些時間調整自己心態，適應與本地影視截然不同的製作模式。「在外國，製作人擁有最終決定權，而一部電視劇往往由多位導演合作拍攝，這對我來說都是全新的製作體驗。」
雖然過程挑戰重重，但通過這次難得的國際合作機會，Derek才能探索將本地創作帶到國際舞臺的可能，希望未來製作出面向世界觀眾的港劇。因此，他亦鼓勵各位香港電影創作者多嘗試不同形式的製作，並拓闊自己的眼界，在拍攝本土題材的同時，也可以思考電影更廣泛與世界各地的觀衆產生連結。
