Feeling abandoned by his three college friends as they go their separate ways, Tony attempts to get a glimpse into their lives through a documentary that spans five, following them into their thirties.
四位大學朋友畢業後各散東西,感到被拋棄的Tony,決定以拍攝之名,窺探他們的生活,開展長達五年的紀錄,直到彼此三十而立。

Synopsis 故事大綱

Kingston, Ming, Ching and Tony met in college and bonded over their love for filmmaking, seeing each other as friends for life. 
Upon graduation, however, their friendship took unexpected turns. Ching moved to Taiwan, Kingston headed to England, and despite Ming’s decision to stay, his passion for film dissipated, along with his presence in the other’s life. The four of them drifted apart, leaving behind a void, with an empty studio.
Tony felt betrayed and abandoned by his friends’ indifference. He decided to find answers through a lens and get a glimpse into their life. This documentary might merely be his desperate attempt to cling to his friendship with others. But as his advances were met with cold shoulders, Tony couldn’t help but wonder whether his love for their friendship was misplaced. 
Five years of documentation not only entails the ebb and flow of the four’s relationship, but also depicts kaleidoscopic Hong Kong, in its ever-changing light.

Kingston、 Ming仔、Ching與Tony相識於大學時期,曾是一起做影像創作的難兄難弟,更認定彼此會是一生的伙伴。
豈料畢業過後,親密的關係竟出現暗湧。Ching在台灣;Kingston在英國;Ming仔選擇留港,卻偏偏對拍攝失去熱誠,甚至不時失去聯絡。曾一同合伙的工作室人去樓空,四人各散東西。
面對著摯友的冷漠,Tony感到被拋棄和背叛,決定透過影像尋找答案,執意窺探他們的生活。這可能是他唯一去感受與他們依然同在的方法,但友人們的各種推塘,卻令Tony重新審視自身對朋友的錯愛。
跨度五年的紀錄,直到彼此三十而立,刻畫著四人友情的變遷、成長,亦在側寫城市變化的風景。

Director’s Statement 導演闡述
This is a story about the present state of relationship between myself and three college friends. Looking back on our college days of creating films together, I regret that we never turned the camera inwards and captured our youthful and passionate selves. It isn’t until we drift apart, that I try to grasp onto our connection through film and visuals, the very thing that bonded us.
This project came into existence before Kinston departed to England for his working holiday. His indifference to our separation was a stark contrast to my reluctance. This angered me deeply, but also inspired me to pick up the camera, trying my best to think through our relationship while filling a void.
This documentary not only records their lives but also my own. Do I truly value our friendship or was this a means to my own end?

這是我和三位大學朋友當下狀態的故事。回想與Kingston、 Ming仔、Ching共同創作的大學時間,我們從未把攝錄機面向我們自身,倒是挺後悔當初沒有好好紀錄大家當時的青澀和熱血。當大家愈走愈遠,才嘗試用影像紀錄來留住他們。
拍攝的起點緣於Kingston年初準備到英國進行工作假期。他對於與友人的離散顯得毫不在乎,十分冷淡,而我則處處流露著不捨之情,甚至對他拋下並肩作戰多年的兄弟 ,獨自離去而感到憤怒。我開始舉起攝錄機,希望可以藉此梳理彼此的關係,填補自己情感的缺失。
這個紀錄片記錄的不單止是他們三位,同時也是好好記錄自己。到底我真的如自己所想般如此重視友誼,或其實只是在放大自己的自私?

TSANG Chung Yin 曾頌然
Graduated from the School of Creative Media at the City University of Hong Kong, TSANG is dedicated to independent visual creation. Documentary Mummy was awarded Special Mention in the Open Category of the 26th ifva Awards. His DOP works for Two Families and White Night were in the Official Selection at the 13th Hong Kong Independent Film Festival. Currently in production of the latest documentary feature Undercurrent.

畢業於香港城市大學創意媒體學院,曾憑紀錄短片《媽咪》獲得第二十六屆ifva比賽公開組特別表揚、攝影作品《兩家人》及《天暗亦明》入圍第十三屆香港獨立電影節。現正拍攝最新紀錄長片《這煩囂城中》。

CHAN Hau Chun 陳巧真
Graduated from the City University of Hong Kong’s School of Creative Media, CHAN is a cinematographer and independent filmmaker. Her works include Uncle Fai, 32+4, Call Me Mrs Chan, and No Song to Sing. 32+4 was screened at numerous international film festivals, and Nominated for Golden Horse Award for Best Documentary.

畢業於香港城市大學創意媒體學院,主修文學士(創意媒體)。現為獨立影像工作者,長居香港。現正製作關於香港板間房的長時間紀錄片《熱室》。
畢業作品紀錄片《32+4》入圍多個本地及外國影展,包括ifva金獎、華語紀錄片節香港獎冠軍、台灣金馬最佳紀錄片提名、Experimenta 大獎 、 德國 Oberhausen 影展大獎等。

CHOI Sin Yi 蔡倩怡
Independent film critic and curator, currently a PhD candidate at the School of Creative Media, CityU. CHOI also serves as one of the directors of Videotage, a member of the Floating Projects Collective.
In terms of film production, she has previously served as the production manager for CHAN Tze Woon’s latest documentary feature, Blue Island (2022), nominated in the 59th Golden Horse Awards (Best Documentary Feature), official selection of International Film Festival Rotterdam 2022 and won TIDF Visionary Award – Grand Prize in the 13th Taiwan International Documentary Festival.

獨立影評/策展人,現為香港城市大學創意媒體學院博士研究生。同時擔任錄映太奇(Videotage)董事、Floating Projects Collective成員。
在電影製作方面,曾任陳梓桓最新的紀錄長片《憂鬱之島》(2022) 的製作經理,入圍第59屆金馬獎最佳紀錄展片、鹿特丹國際影展2023等,獲第十三屆台灣國際紀錄片影展的再見真實獎 – 首獎。

CHOU Tseng Chen 周增晟
Graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara and joined Taiwan film industry, focusing on international affairs, sales & acquisitions, and project consulting. He co-produced Get the Hell Out, a selection of Toronto International Film Festival in 2020. In recent years, he has actively participated in independent productions, assisting works officially selected in The Golden Horse Film Project Promotion and Taipei Film Festival International Pitching Forum as production manager.

於2009年自美國加州大學聖塔芭芭拉分校畢業後投入電影業,負責版權銷售、影展推廣、創投顧問等,曾參予電影製作《共犯》、《紅衣小女孩》、《逃出立法院》入選2020年多倫多國際電影節。近年亦積極參與獨立製作,製片作品曾入選金馬創投、台北電影節國際提案等。
